First of all, we'd like to extend a massive THANK YOU to all of you have been ordering from us through this crisis. We know we are not alone in facing the uphill battle to keep our business going through these challenging times and we know that you, our lovely customers, will be facing huge difficulties of your own. We are so grateful for your support and we hope it can continue so here are a few things we'd like to share that are ways we think we can help each other:
We know some of you will be going through tough financial times, with uncertainty over jobs and businesses. Others may feel they want to do more to support small businesses like ours and would be willing to pay a little extra for something to help us out. Other friends and family might be interested in picking up our craft now they have extra time at home. So we've taken the decision to run a 'pay as you feel' scheme on our own selection of gorgeous design books. From our Plum Pudding Pig in Dovestone Smallholding to our Sandsend Blanket in Yorkshire Shores, or even a stunning Vintage sweater in our Titus collection, our books offer a huge range of pattern ideas for all abilities- have a browse through here.
Once you've chosen your book(s), you decide how much you would like to pay, from as little as £1 per copy to an unlimited amount. Look at it as a donation with an added bonus!
There used to be a time when wool shops were able to 'put yarn by' for customers, spreading the costs of larger projects and enabling you to pay-as-you-knit. We've talked to a few of you who said they would love to bring this idea back so we've come up with a plan as part of our new Knit-Along, making Andrea Mowry's beautiful 'Nightshift' shawl in our Winterburn dk.
We'll be sending round further details next week when you'll be able to sign up for the KAL yarn pack and pay in weekly installments for your yarn via a direct debit. Yarn packs and places will be limited and we expect this to be a popular one, so if you'd like to register your interest with us now ahead of the launch you can email us firstname.lastname@example.org.
Home schooling some small people? Got friends or family who are interested in taking up knitting while they're stuck at home? We've got a super handy Learn to Knit techniques sheet available completely free to download so that we can all spread the knitting love around a little. And once they've cast on some stitches and got going, they can always buy our brilliant Learn to Knit at Home book with our Pay-As-You-Feel scheme!
You can download the guide here- feel free to print it out, forward it on and share on all your social media channels (just don't forget to tag us!).
We know it's no substitute for the baa ram ewe sofa, but the lovely Jane and of course Rupert the cat will be available twice a week to share in your knitting troubles and triumphs from the comfort of their own Living Room. Of course the benefit is that anyone in the world can join us and it would be so lovely to have a mix of all our UK and global customers. Join us for our virtual knit night between 6 and 8pm on Thursdays, or check in at our virtual knit and natter drop in session between 11am and noon each Wednesday. If you're using using a Chrome browser you just need to click on the relevant link below and that's it!
If you're using a phone or tablet (doesn't matter if it's Apple or Android) just install the 8x8 Virtual Office app and open it up. Click on 'Go to a Meeting' and type the relevant meeting address:
Looking forward to seeing you there!
If you're sat at home staring guiltily at your stash unable to justify any more yarn purchases then we offer gift cards for you or a friend to redeem for the next 12 months. This is such a great way to support us and many other small businesses you may be unable to visit in the current circumstances and is also a lovely treat to send to a loved one who you may be missing right now.
Once again thank you so much for your continued support. We'll be in touch soon with more ideas to keep our woolly community joined together in the coming days and weeks.
Verity & the baa ram ewe team.
