Do you feel like the sweaters you make never seem to suit you the way you’d like? Would you like to learn some simple tips and tricks (as well as more advanced ones) to help you crack the process? Bring along a tape measure, your wits and a calculator and we’ll get started. Pick a pattern you already know you want to make and hop along, with at least one ball of wool for your chosen sweater and suitable needles.
We’ll talk about how to get the most from your pattern by picking the correct size for you, taking measurements, swatching, and the effects of different fibres. Get some tips and tricks for good pattern reading and learn to identify possible alterations you may want to make for patterns so that they suit your body better.
The main focus of the workshop will be discussing and practicing small modifications you can make to patterns so that they suit you better – vertical bust darts, short-row darts, altering your sleeve decreases or waist placement, and changing your neckline.
This workshop includes online support from Gwen through a Ravelry forum, as well as 30 min consultation a month down the line once you’ve started knitting your sure-to-be fabulous sweater. To make the most of this workshop you must have a sense of humour, have tried reading a pattern before, and be able to knit a swatch for your chosen jumper (i.e., knit/purl for st st or the lace/cable pattern if it's patterned.) .
