In 2019 baa ram ewe is ten years old! We started as a local yarn shop in Leeds in the beautiful county of Yorkshire and are now the proud creators of six luxury British handknitting yarns including Titus.
To celebrate our first decade we're spinning a special batch of Titus, which was our first ever baa ram ewe yarn, in 12 shades from our signature palette. To go with it we’ve created a brand new FREE pattern, Smithies Cowl. Named after Sir Titus Salt’s mother’s maiden name, Grace Smithies, this simple lace cowl is a quick cosy knit needing just one skein of Titus to make. Click through to Ravelry here to download.
All the shades of Titus have been inspired by the Yorkshire surroundings, blending together perfectly for a stunning palette of colour. For example, ‘Parkin’ is inspired by the traditional Yorkshire cake of the same name - a delicious blend of Treacle and Ginger. ‘Eccup’ is named after a local reservoir, a beauty spot which is home to a colony of rare Red Kite birds.
Titus is spun for us in Yorkshire by Laxtons, a spinning mill that’s been going since 1907 and is now run by the fourth generation, the founders’ great-grandson James Laxton.
If you want a beautiful yarn that combines British authenticity with true luxury, then Titus is the yarn for you!
For us, this is a dream come true: a luxurious local yarn with homely colours that supports our local industries. It makes us very happy. We hope it makes you happy too.
